Bottom line - God has shown us his continued grace and mercy in the midst of this storm. As far as we have heard, our church family is safe. Yes, the damage could have been more extreme and we could've taken a hard hit, but the church and cross still stand at Messiah.
With that said, we have a long road ahead of us. Our church has been weakened because of the hurricane. Our roof has been torn open in certain areas, the ceiling on one of the sanctuary wings was so saturated with leaking water it broke under pressure, and we now have possible structural issues due to wind stress which have created cracks within our walls. At this point, we don't believe anything is not fixable - but it is going to take a lot of prayer and giving through our resources of time and service, and in the future, our treasure.
Beginning next week, we will begin reaching out to the community and offering help and basic needs to our neighborhoods.
If you would like to donate monetary resources, you can send a check to Messiah Lutheran Church, 3302 S. College Road, Wilmington NC 28412.
