Trike-a-thon/BIKE-A-THON 2020

for the Homeless & Safe Kids Expo


Due to the COVID-19 restrictions placed on all community-wide events, we regretfully POSTPONE, not cancel, our Trike-a-thon/Bike-a-thon benefitting Good Shepherd Center. Be on the look out for our rescheduled date. In the meantime, we ask you continue to support Good Shepherd Center as they continue to provide the dire support for our community to those in need.


All proceeds will benefit the Wilmington Good Shepherd Center for the homeless.


When: Sunday, April 26 at 1:30 PM (Rain or Shine).

Where: Messiah Lutheran Church – 3302 S College Road.

Trike-a-thon: Athletes 5 years old and younger on any type of people-powered vehicle, i.e. trikes, bikes, scooters, strollers, wagons etc. may enter. Registration begins at 12:30. Trike-a-thon from 1:00 to 2:00.


Bike-a-thon: Athletes 6 to 16 on any kind of people-powered vehicle. Registration begins at 1:30. Bike-a-thon from 2:00 to 3:00.

  • All athletes must be accompanied at all times by a minimum of one responsible adult and can have an unlimited entourage supporting them while they ride.
  • We must have a signed waiver for athletes and anyone else accompanying the athlete on the course.
  • Athletes MUST wear a helmet unless they are in a stroller or wagon (North Carolina state law.)
  • 12:30 Check-in Opens
  • 1:00 Trike-a-thon begins and ends at 2:00
  • 2:00 Bike-a-thon begins and ends at 3:00. (Streamed via Facebook LIVE)
  • 3:00 After Party in the Fellowship Hall begins.


Bike Rodeo 

Conducted by the League of American Bicyclists. For kids of all ages on their bikes. Helmet and Bike Safety checks. Bike safety clinics and rules of the road safety course.


Safe Kids Expo

Learn about some of the many programs in our community focused on helping you keep your kids safe. Car seat safety checks. Bike registration.


After Party

The amount raised by the athletes will be announced immediately following the event at an After Party in the Fellowship Hall. Athletes, their coaches and entourage will be celebrated for their hard work and concern for Wilmington’s homeless.

Directions, Equipment Drop off and Parking

Directions: From UNCW—South on College Road, Right on Pine Valley Drive; From Monkey Junction—North on College Road, Left on Pine Valley Drive


Bicycle, Tricycle Drop Off: From College Road, turn on to Pine Valley Drive. Immediate left into Messiah Lutheran Church parking lot. Make loop through church driveway. Volunteers will help you unload, label your equipment, and park it in the bike corral. Proceed to parking at SouthSide Baptist Church-- right turn onto Pine Valley and right turn onto S College. And right turn at next driveway into parking lot. Follow bike trail 50 ft. to bike corral at Messiah Lutheran Church.


Event Parking — Parking is at Southside Baptist Church, immediate neighbor of Messiah Lutheran. From S College Road, pass Messiah Lutheran and make an immediate right into Southside Baptist Church parking lot.
